Trostle  Before the early 1700s the area now called Adams County was predominately forest land which stretched westward from the Susquehanna River. The area was frequented by transient Native Americans of the Shawnee, Delaware and Susquehannock tribes. These Native Americans hunted, traded, occasionally fought with each other and probably buried their fallen in the this area, but evidence does not indicate that any of the tribes established permanent villages.
